Delray Beach Wallpaper and Wallcovering Installation

The short answer

WallEdge Installation hangs, removes and repairs wallcoverings across Delray Beach, ZIPs 33444, 33445 and 33483, about five miles south of our base. The right result comes from matching the material to the room's moisture, light, wall condition and how long you want the look to last.

Delray Beach is our neighbor to the south, about five miles from the WallEdge Installation shop in Boynton Beach. We work across 33444, 33445 and 33483, in bungalows, newer single-family homes, townhouses, condos and plenty of businesses. Because the drive is short, Delray clients often ask us to bring samples, hold them against the wall and talk through options on the spot. Those conversations tend to circle around the same handful of questions, so we have organized this page around them. Answer these five and you will have a clear idea of what your project needs before a single roll is ordered.

1. How much moisture does the room see?

This is the first filter, and in South Florida it rules out more papers than any other factor. Our region stays hot, humid and wet from May through October, with storms most afternoons, and even the drier months from November into April are warm. Rooms with showers, dishwashers or washing machines need vinyl or vinyl-coated coverings and a mildew-resistant paste. Bedrooms, dining rooms and offices with steady air conditioning can take almost anything, including grasscloth, silk-look papers and hand-printed designs.

Homes east of the Intracoastal add salt air to the mix. On walls near sliders or balcony doors, coated materials hold their color and seams longer than uncoated ones.

2. What is the wall made of, and what shape is it in?

Delray has a little of everything: plaster in some older cottages, concrete block throughout much of the housing stock, and textured drywall in newer builds and condos. Each needs its own preparation. Plaster may need cracks bridged; block needs mortar joints filled so they do not ghost through; textured drywall usually needs a skim coat. If there is old wallpaper, it comes off and the adhesive is washed away. Every surface then gets a wallcovering primer.

We also look for problems that paper would only hide for a while: a damp patch under a window that leaked during a past storm, a soft spot near an AC closet, or a crack that keeps reopening along a block seam. Those get sorted out first. Hanging an expensive grasscloth over a wall that is still taking on water means watching it stain from behind within a season, and no adhesive can stop that. Telling you about it up front costs a little time and saves a lot of disappointment.

3. Is this a whole room, one wall or a ceiling?

Scope changes the approach and the material count. A few common project types we handle in Delray:

  • Full-room installations with matched patterns on every wall.
  • Accent walls that highlight a fireplace, headboard or dining area.
  • Murals delivered in numbered panels, laid out so the focal point lands where you want it.
  • Ceiling wallpaper in dining rooms, powder rooms and bedrooms, hung from scaffolding.
  • Wallpaper removal and wall repair when you simply want clean walls back.

4. How permanent should it be?

Some homeowners want a covering that will stay for a decade or more; others like to refresh a look every few years. Traditional and non-woven papers on a proper primer are long-term finishes that still strip cleanly when the time comes. Peel and stick suits renters, short-term rentals and anyone who wants an easy change, as long as the wall is smooth and the paint fully cured. We will tell you honestly when peel and stick is a poor fit, such as in a steamy bathroom.

5. Is it a home or a business?

Delray's restaurants, boutiques, salons and offices call us for commercial wallcovering that can handle foot traffic and frequent cleaning. Type II vinyl and textured commercial goods are the usual choice. We schedule commercial installs outside opening hours so the doors stay open to customers, and we protect counters, floors and fixtures while we work.

Homes get the same care, just on a home schedule. Either way, keep the air conditioning steady during and after installation, and know that between June 1 and November 30 we will reschedule if a hurricane threatens.
