Wallcovering for Highland Beach Condos and Homes

The short answer

WallEdge Installation hangs and removes wallpaper in Highland Beach, roughly 8 miles south of our Boynton Beach base. We work in oceanfront condos and single-family homes, choosing materials and adhesives that suit salt air and seasonal occupancy.

Highland Beach is a narrow coastal town in Palm Beach County, about 8 miles south of the WallEdge Installation workshop in Boynton Beach. Living this close to the Atlantic changes how a wall behaves. Sliding glass doors open onto balconies, ocean breezes carry salt and moisture indoors, and a unit can sit closed up for months while its owners are away. We plan each Highland Beach installation around those conditions, from the adhesive we pick to the day we schedule, so that new paper, a mural or a textured grasscloth looks as crisp next season as it does on the day we finish.

Working inside a condo building

Much of Highland Beach living happens in mid-rise and high-rise condominiums. Those buildings usually have rules about contractor hours, elevator reservations, parking for work vans and protection of common hallways. We ask for your association's requirements up front and plan around them: padding the elevator, keeping tools and paste buckets inside the unit, and cleaning as we go so nothing is left in a shared corridor.

If you are out of state for part of the year, we can coordinate access with a building manager or a trusted neighbor. Photos of the finished walls can be sent to you the same day.

What salt air and seasonal closures do to wallpaper

Ocean air is damp and slightly corrosive. Rooms that face the water, especially those with frequently opened balcony doors, see more humidity at the wall surface than an interior hallway does. Paper that is not suited to that exposure can curl at the seams or develop faint staining along the edges over time.

Seasonal closures create a second risk. When a unit is locked up and the thermostat is raised to save energy over the summer, indoor humidity climbs. The May to October wet season brings frequent storms and heavy, sticky air, and hurricane season stretches from June 1 through November 30. We suggest a humidity-control setting on the thermostat, or at least a moderate AC setting, rather than shutting the system off. Paper that cures in steady conditions stays flat.

Materials that suit a beachside home

We guide Highland Beach clients toward wallcoverings that match the room's exposure:

  • Vinyl wallcovering for kitchens, baths and rooms opening straight onto a balcony
  • Grasscloth and natural fibers for bedrooms and dens with steady climate control, kept away from direct spray and wet areas
  • Large-format murals for living rooms with long, uninterrupted walls facing the view
  • Ceiling wallpaper to add texture in dining areas with plain flat ceilings
  • Peel and stick for guest rooms and short-term refreshes in seasonal units
  • Commercial wallcovering for lobbies, clubrooms and corridors in association common areas

From bare wall to finished room

Our process stays the same whether the job is one accent wall or an entire unit. We start by removing any existing wallpaper and checking the drywall underneath. Coastal condos often have smooth walls, but older units may have orange-peel texture or patched areas around former fixtures. Wall preparation and repair come next: filling, sanding, skim coating where needed and sealing with a primer chosen for the paper type.

Then we lay out the room. Pattern placement is planned so that the most visible wall gets the cleanest repeat and the seams fall away from windows where raking light would show them. Installation follows, with every seam rolled and wiped. We finish by trimming at baseboards, ceilings and switch plates and reviewing the room with you.

Nearby coastal towns we cover

Highland Beach is one stop along a stretch of coast we know well. We also serve Delray Beach, Gulf Stream, Briny Breezes, Ocean Ridge and Hypoluxo. If you own property in more than one of these towns, or manage several units, we can plan the work as a single schedule. Reach out with the rooms you have in mind and your building's contractor rules, and we will set up a visit to measure.

What to expect

How a visit goes

  1. Prep before paper

Holes, texture, old adhesive and stains are dealt with first, then the wall gets a primer suited to the product.

  2. Layout you can see

We show you where the pattern will be centered and where partial strips will fall before anything is pasted.

  3. Straight answers

If a wall has a moisture problem or a paper is wrong for the room, we tell you plainly and suggest another route.

FAQ

Common questions

Don’t see your question? Call (561) 834-7669 and we’ll talk it through.

Can you work within my condo association's contractor rules?

Yes. Send us the rules or put us in touch with management, and we will schedule around permitted hours, elevator bookings and parking.

Will wallpaper hold up in a room that faces the ocean?

It can when the material fits the exposure. We usually recommend vinyl or a scrubbable coated paper for rooms with balcony doors that open often.

I am only in Highland Beach part of the year. Can the work happen while I am away?

Often, yes. We can coordinate entry with your building manager and send photos when the installation is done.

What thermostat setting do you recommend for a closed-up unit?

Avoid turning the AC off. A moderate temperature, or a humidity-control mode if your system has one, helps keep paper flat and seams closed.

Do you install wallcovering in condo lobbies and hallways?

We do. Commercial-grade vinyl is common for common areas, and we can phase the work to keep corridors usable for residents.

Planning a wallpaper project?

Tell us about the room, the paper you have in mind and the condition of the walls. We will set up a visit to measure and walk you through the scope.
