The short answer
WallEdge Installation installs every major wallcovering type in Glen Ridge, about ten miles north of Boynton Beach. Vinyl suits wet rooms, non-wovens and traditional papers suit most living spaces, grasscloth needs dry air, and peel and stick needs smooth, cured paint.
Glen Ridge is one of the smallest towns in Palm Beach County, about ten miles north of our Boynton Beach shop and surrounded by Lake Clarke Shores, Lake Worth Beach, Greenacres and Atlantis. A town this size does not need a long sales pitch. What Glen Ridge homeowners usually want from us is straight information about the wallcoverings themselves: what each type is, where it behaves well in a humid house, and where it does not. So that is what this page offers, along with a short note on how we schedule work this far north.
Traditional and non-woven papers
Traditional paper is pulp-based and is pasted on the back, then folded and left to relax for a set number of minutes before it goes on the wall. It accepts beautiful printing and comes in an enormous range of patterns. In a humid climate, the waiting time matters: paper that is not booked long enough keeps expanding on the wall and forms bubbles.
Non-woven papers blend natural and synthetic fibers. Most are paste-the-wall products, they hold their size well when damp, and many strip off in a single dry piece years later. For bedrooms, living rooms and hallways in a Glen Ridge house with reliable air conditioning, non-woven is often our first suggestion.
Vinyl and commercial wallcovering
Vinyl has a plastic surface layer over a paper or fabric backing. It resists water, wipes clean and handles the steam in bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms far better than uncoated paper. Heavier commercial vinyls, often labeled type II, are built for offices, waiting rooms and corridors where chairs and carts bump the walls.
The trade-off is breathability. Because vinyl does not let moisture pass through, the wall behind it must be dry and primed with a mildew-resistant product. We never seal vinyl over a wall that shows signs of a leak.
Grasscloth and natural weaves
Grasscloth is woven from grasses, sisal, jute or similar fibers and backed with paper. Every roll varies a little in color and texture, and visible seams are part of its character. It brings a calm, organic quality to a den, a study or a primary bedroom.
It is also the most sensitive option for a South Florida home. Grasscloth stains if paste gets on its face, fades in strong direct sun and should stay out of bathrooms and kitchens. Hang it in a dry, steadily cooled room and it rewards you.
Murals, peel and stick, and ceiling papers
Other formats solve specific design goals:
- Murals come in printed panels sized to your wall, ideal for a single bold scene behind a bed or along a dining room.
- Peel and stick is a self-adhesive vinyl that sticks best to smooth, fully cured satin or eggshell paint, and is a good fit for renters and quick refreshes.
- Ceiling papers are usually lighter non-wovens so they stay put overhead; we hang them from a platform with two installers.
- Accent walls can use any of the above, giving you a contained way to try something adventurous.
The wall matters as much as the paper
Whatever you choose, it will only look as good as the surface underneath. Many homes in this area combine concrete block exterior walls with drywall interiors, sometimes with a heavy texture. Our wall preparation covers removing old wallpaper, washing off residual adhesive, patching, skim-coating texture flat and priming with a product designed for wallcoverings.
Scheduling from Boynton Beach
We usually group Glen Ridge visits with nearby jobs in Lake Clarke Shores, Lake Worth Beach, Greenacres, Atlantis and South Palm Beach, which keeps scheduling efficient. During the wet season from May to October, please keep air conditioning running steadily around your install. During hurricane season, June 1 through November 30, we will move the date if a storm is approaching.
